Describe your role at Perigee Fund
I collaborate with Perigee grantees and partners to create more access for infant mental health, with an emphasis on system change.
Related to your role, describe what you are passionate about and/or what is the philosophy you bring to the organization?
I am passionate about the connections between local and state systems and elevating and supporting community-based efforts that can our inform systems of care to be more reflective of what is needed to support families. I believe deeply in the power of relationships at all levels, between babies and their caregivers, and with the partners I work with. I am passionate about ensuring that all families have access to what they need to thrive.
Tell us a little bit about your professional background starting with your most recent position.
Most recently, I worked at Best Starts for Kids in multiple roles including the co-lead. I helped lead voter approve initiative which invested over $400 million into King County over six years, reaching over a half million children, youth and families in partnership with over 500 community-based organizations. In this role I helped distribute funding, worked with community partners, and focused on prenatal to five policy and systems change efforts. Previously, I spent my career in the direct services, non-profits, and government with an emphasis on initiatives that support maternal health, young children, and families.
What excites you about working with Perigee Fund?
Perigee is such an exciting place to be. I believe in our mission, our commitment to equity. The focus on the parent and child relationship brings me joy. I love learning from others and collaborating on how to impact systems change, how to change the trajectory for all families who experience trauma.
What is your favorite way to develop early connections with the babies and young children in your life?
Reading books is with children is always a favorite activity. Not only can you snuggle in close while reading, but it is such a fun way to experience the world through their eyes. I also love to experience nature with young children and my own family. Being outside brings a sense of wonder and joy.
