Perigee is one of several funders of Baby’s First Years, the first study in the United States to assess the impact of poverty reduction on family life and the cognitive, emotional, and brain development of infants and toddlers. Groundbreaking new findings show a causal link between monthly cash provided to low-income families and infant brain development. The new scientific findings have the potential to refocus debates about the Child Tax Credit and other US social policy decisions on the benefits for child development and the long-term well-being of families, rather than the question of which adults are worthy of support. The New York Times reported on the findings and their policy and family implications.
